Lightning safety

Parents and coaches: keep this page handy while at the fields.

  1. 01
One loud siren: leave the fields.

Lightning within 10 miles triggers an alert. Stop all play and practices immediately.

  2. 02
    Wait inside your vehicle.

Players must remain inside fully enclosed vehicles with windows closed. Do not wait under concessions, trees, or anywhere outdoors.

  3. 03
Every nearby strike resets the clock.

Each strike within 10 miles restarts the 30-minute countdown. The displayed time is an estimate and can change.

  4. 04
    Three loud sirens: all clear.

Stay off the fields until the lightning detector resets and sounds three loud sirens indicating all clear. If the fields are marked closed, the closure remains in effect until lifted.
